Pre-Season Examinations Date Change

Updated on 07/08/2024

Hello LM Community, Effective immediately, the PIAA Sports Medicine Committee has deemed that pre-season examinations by a licensed physician are allowed to be performed starting on May 1st. This is a change from the past, when the earliest the physical examination could be completed was the 1st of June. The updated physical examination document can be found at the following link: https://www.piaa.org/assets/web/documents/PIAA_CIPPE_FORMS_SECTION(S)_1_-_10(1).pdf. The hope is that this change will reduce the stress that comes from having to schedule a doctor’s appointment in the middle of the summer or closer to the start of fall sports in August and September.   Thank you, and enjoy the rest of your day.   Sincerely,  Robert Dominick, Athletics and Activities Director

Good morning, Please review the attached photos of the LMHS gym and share them with anyone who plans on attending a Boys or Girls Basketball game during the upcoming winter season. The photo with "LM Fans" and "LM Student Fans" is the left side of our gym, which is closest to the entrance, and the other photo is the right side of our gym where the scorer's table will be set up (at the bottom of the middle bleachers).  Our security personnel and ticket sellers will remind fans of the seating arrangements, and there will be signs posted as well when spectators enter the gym. Thanks in advance for your cooperation. Have a great day!

The following information was sent out this week from the PIAA regarding House Bill 297, a bill meant to curtail the harassment of officials at sporting events. Please reach out at rdominick@lmtsd.org if you have any questions. Thanks! House Bill 297, Harassment of a Sports Official, introduced by Representative Kulik and Senator Dillon, is a bill to help protect officials from harassment. Harassment, as defined in the bill, of a sports official while performing their duties as an official will constitute a misdemeanor of the third degree. PIAA, as an association of member schools and a registry for sports officials, has almost 14,000 registered sports officials under its jurisdiction. PIAA supports the protection of those men, women, and students who continually support safety, fair play, and the rules of the games. Senator Scott Martin has introduced a resolution to support PIAA Officials’ Appreciation weeks, Fall (October 1st—7th, 2023), Winter (January 7

NCAA Update on Standardized Test Score Requirements

Posted on 01/25/2023

During the 2023 NCAA Convention, Divisions I and II adopted legislation to remove standardized test scores from initial-eligibility requirements for student-athletes who initially enroll full time on or after August 1, 2023. The vote was based on the recommendation from the Standardized Test Score Task Force, a specialized group charged with reviewing initial-eligibility requirements as part of the NCAA's eight-point plan to advance racial equity. Among other requirements, college-bound student-athletes planning to compete at an NCAA Division I or II school are still required to have a 2.3 (DI)/2.2 (DII) grade-point average in 16 NCAA-approved core-course units and provide proof of high school graduation. Division-specific information on initial-eligibility requirements is available here: Division I. Division II. Division III: Click here for more information on Division III requirements for international student-athletes. El
