Announcements and Important Events
On Wednesday July 29th PIAA sent a press release and passed a decision for this upcoming season. There will be three options for the upcoming fall season. Each of the decisions can be sport specific, so what happens in one sport, may not happen in another. There are really only three items we are tied to. The first is, we can not start before August 10th (football), August 17th all other sports. We must have 3 full weeks of pre-season, and we must play a game prior to October 5th. Aside from those three dates, we are able to dictate when our programs can officially begin.
In the coming days I will be working with the coaches of our fall programs, my Suburban One League Athletic Director colleagues, and district administration to determine when we feel each sport can start their respective athletics in the safest way possible.
A common theme during my weekly SOL AD meetings is to try and find a way for our kids to play as many games as possible. Whether that be a full or modified season. The idea of competing in districts and states is something that if we get to do will be great, but if we can avoid canceling our season all together, it will be a successful season in my eyes. This will allow our kids to enjoy the many social and emotional benefits they get from being a member of one of our sports teams.
Below you will find the PIAA Press Release from yesterday, as well as the fall sports specific recommendations that we will need to follow for the upcoming season.
