On Friday and Saturday March 16th and 17th The Lions went to Bucknell University to compete for the AA State Swimming & Diving Championships. Going into the weekend the team and coaches knew that a lot had to go their way in order to bring home the gold medal trophy.
On Friday night the Lions got off to a great start by winning the 200 Medley Relay. Ben Aust, Tommy Lutter, Chris Kelly & Connor Killion made up the medley team. Night one also saw Connor Killion get the bronze medal in the 200 free, Chris Kelly the bronze in the 200 IM and Tommy Lutter the bronze in 100 fly. Night one concluded with the Lions having a 20 point lead on favorite Erie Cathedral Prep.
Day 2 started and the Lions were going back and forth with ECP. Connor Killion earned a 4th place finish and Chris Kelly earned a silver medal. It all came down to the final race, the 400 free relay. Colin Shipp, Tommy Lutter, Chris Kelly & Connor Killion needed to come in 2nd to secure at least a share of the state title. The race was highly competiive and came down to the end. Killion the anchor of the relay made his final turn and pushed the Lions relay team to state gold and the team championship.
The title was Lower Moreland High Schools 3rd State Title and 1st in Swimming & Diving. The entire community and school wants to congratulate the entire team and coaching staff on their accomplishments.
